Politics Today
Mood:  not sure
Why is it that all we hear in politics these days are problems with our country?  That is all politicians talk about, there's sometimes talk about the solutions to these problems, but in reality how often do we the people see these put into place.  Campaigns are centered around mudslinging andthe important issues, but how often is action taken?  Even thought there are many problems with our nation, not everything is bad.  We have a prosperous economy, and many freedoms that people die for every day.  For example, the war in Iraq.  Many people like to talk about that and the negative impact that it has been having lately, but what people don't talk about are the good things that are happening over there.  It seems like all the media does these days is to tell us the death toll of our soldiers, and say that it appears that no progress is being made so why are we over there.  In reality many of those people that publish these news stories don't talk to the soldiers that have been over there.  Many of them are glad we are there, the people are happy to see our troops, and the majority of them are trying for a better future.  There may be fighting going on that we don't approve of, but in reality it is neccessary.  Maybe our country butted in when we had no right to, but now we are there and as Americans we should support the men and women that are there.  Even if some of us do not agree, this does not mean you should not support our troops.  For some it is not their decision to be over there fighting, but they still do it.  As a country we went into this war, and as a country we should come out of it.  Many people complain about the President and how he is making so many bad decisions for our country.  My question to you is where were you?  Where were you when 9/11 occured.  Where were you when elections were held.  Did you vote?  Did you voice your oppinion at the time our country not only asked but needed it?  Many people did not turn out to vote in our last election.  Many of them did not care to take the time to voice their opinion on matters then.  Look at those people now.  They are all hipocrits.  They did not think it was important to voice their opinion, but now that things haven't been improving the way they want, or think they should be, they are complaining. Anyone that did not vote in 2004 and was eligible, don't complain.  You didn't voice your opinion then, you didn't care to make that effort then, but now all of a sudden you do.  Why is it your opinion did not matter then?  Why is YOUR opinion important now when it wasn't then?  If anyone can come up with some good answers for these questions then your fellow Americans should be told.  They should be told why you were not there, why your opinion matters so much more now, and why as and American you are no better then the terrorists.  Sorry but you spoke up too late.  You waited for things to get bad before you had an opinion, and now you have no one to blame but yourselves.  As an American I am truely ashamed of many people that claim to be patriots.  I am especially ashamed of everyone in the public eye that did not support our country.  Not listing names but this goes out to everyone that was suppose to leave the country if Bush got reelected.  I have noticed that did not happen, and I wonder why.  For everyone that voted in 2004, and even for those that were not able to but still support our troops, you are true patriots.  Those of you that voted in 2004 and are actively against us being in Iraq, I also salute you.  At least you had the courage to stand up for what you believe in and you didn't wait til everything got to bad, or you just decided not to care at the time.  You are true patriots, and you symbolize what democracy is.
